En muchas costas del mundo hay carteles que indican \u201cProhibido Ba\u00f1arse\u201d, uno imaginar\u00eda que es por la presencia de tiburones o medusas pero la raz\u00f3n es un tanto diferente. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
El problema de estas playas es el sistema de saneamiento que posee el pueblo o la ciudad aleda\u00f1a<\/strong>. Es decir, el manejo del agua desde que abrimos el tubo o jalamos la cadena hasta su disposici\u00f3n final. El sistema de saneamiento de la comunidad en que viv\u00eds tiene un rol clave para el desarrollo saludable de la poblaci\u00f3n y del medio ambiente en el cual est\u00e1 inserto. Esto perjudica directamente tanto a los mismos tiburones, medusas y a todo el ecosistema marino; como tambi\u00e9n, a los seres humanos que nos ba\u00f1amos en sus aguas.\u00a0 El 19 de noviembre se celebr\u00f3 el D\u00eda Mundial del Retrete y desde Nicoya Pen\u00ednsula Waterkeeper no quer\u00edamos dejar pasar la oportunidad para generar conciencia sobre su importancia.<\/strong> Tal vez en el sur de la Pen\u00ednsula de Nicoya el retrete es un artefacto subestimado porque la mayor\u00eda de nosotros tiene uno en su casa o frenamos en una bomba en la ruta y encontramos uno f\u00e1cilmente. Pero, a nivel mundial, esto no es algo normal. Hoy en d\u00eda, 4.200 millones de personas viven sin servicios sanitarios gestionados de forma segura, lo cual genera graves problemas de salud, discriminaci\u00f3n y desigualdad de oportunidades.<\/strong>\u00a0 En Costa Rica, el mayor inconveniente es lo que pasa despu\u00e9s de que jalamos la cadena de ese inodoro. Un correcto plan de saneamiento es sumamente importante a la hora de construir nuestra casa o comercio y para el desarrollo de cualquier comunidad.<\/strong> En el sur de la Pen\u00ednsula de Nicoya no existe un sistema centralizado de tratamiento que depure las aguas que usamos diariamente. Por eso, es importante que tengamos trampas de grasa y tanques s\u00e9pticos eficientes para tratarlas correctamente. Sino, al jalar la cadena del inodoro, todo lo que disponemos va directamente a los r\u00edos y luego al mar, donde nos ba\u00f1amos y surfeamos todos los d\u00edas.\u00a0 Si no poseemos un sistema de saneamiento eficiente en nuestra comunidad, tenemos que tomar la riendas del asunto y asegurarnos de tratar las aguas de nuestra casa o comercio con nuestros medios, al fin y al cabo somos nosotros y nuestras familias los que nadamos en aguas contaminadas y nos enfermamos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Si cada uno toma conciencia de esta problem\u00e1tica y toma acciones claras para solucionarla, la salud de la poblaci\u00f3n y de la flora y fauna no se ver\u00eda tan amenazada.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n …<\/p>\n\n\n\n We celebrated World Toilet Day and here is why it is important On many coasts of the world there are signs that say “No Bathing”, one can imagine that it is because of the presence of sharks or jellyfish, but the reason is somewhat different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The problem with these beaches is the sanitation system that the nearby town has. <\/strong>That is, water management from when we open the faucet or flush the toilet, until its final disposal. The sanitation system of a community has a key role in the healthy development of its population and the environment in which it is inserted. This directly can harm sharks, jellyfish and the entire marine ecosystem; as also, the human beings that bathe in its waters. On November 19, World Toilet Day was celebrated and Nicoya Peninsula Waterkeeper didn’t want to miss the opportunity to raise awareness about its seriousness.<\/strong> Maybe in the south of the Nicoya Peninsula, the toilet is an underrated device, because most of us have one at home or stop at a roadside gas station and find one easily. But, having a toilet is not something to take for granted worldwide. Today, 4.2 billion people live without health services managed safely. This creates serious health problems, discrimination, and inequality of opportunities.\u00a0<\/strong> In Costa Rica, the biggest issue is what happens after we flush that toilet. A correct sanitation system is extremely important when it comes to building our house or business, and for the development of any community.<\/strong> If the water is not treated properly, it can damage the whole ecosystem and human health. In the South of the Nicoya Peninsula, there is no centralized sewage system that treats the water we use daily. Therefore, it is important that we have grease traps and proper septic tanks to treat them correctly.
