Funcionan a trav\u00e9s de un filtrado de piedras de diferentes tama\u00f1os, utilizando tambi\u00e9n la filtraci\u00f3n natural que tienen las plantas sembradas en la superficie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A finales del 2021, participamos de un concurso lanzado por GWP Centroam\u00e9rica que financia iniciativas que contribuyen a alcanzar los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS), especialmente el ODS 6 \u201cAgua Limpia y Saneamiento\u201d. Estas iniciativas deben contribuir a la Gesti\u00f3n Integrada del Recurso H\u00eddrico (GIRH). En total se presentaron 14 propuestas de toda la regi\u00f3n y estuvimos entre las 2 iniciativas ganadoras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nuestra propuesta fue la construcci\u00f3n de una biojardinera para el tratamiento de aguas residuales en el Liceo Rural de Santa Teresa, con el objetivo de crear un aula abierta para toda la comunidad donde mostrar las buenas pr\u00e1cticas existentes para tratar adecuadamente las aguas residuales y evitar que contaminen los r\u00edos y el mar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para iniciar el proyecto, durante el mes de diciembre, realizamos una capacitaci\u00f3n a los docentes, estudiantes y vecinos sobre el tratamiento de aguas residuales para hacerlos parte del proceso de construcci\u00f3n de la biojardinera. Tambi\u00e9n, preparamos el terreno y colocamos las piedras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En febrero, realizaremos la segunda fase del proyecto donde sembraremos las plantas de filtraci\u00f3n y colocaremos rotulaci\u00f3n con el apoyo de estudiantes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El proyecto incluy\u00f3 la instalaci\u00f3n de un tanque de almacenamiento de agua tratada que permitir\u00e1 su reutilizaci\u00f3n para riego. Gracias al apoyo de GWP Centroam\u00e9rica tambi\u00e9n podremos analizar esta agua de reuso para comprobar su calidad seg\u00fan la legislaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pronto les compartiremos una gu\u00eda pr\u00e1ctica con m\u00e1s detalles del proceso para la construcci\u00f3n de la biojardinera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Agradecemos al equipo de GWP Centroam\u00e9rica, al Director del Liceo Juan Parajeles y la Junta Directiva del Liceo por el inter\u00e9s y el gran trabajo en equipo que logr\u00f3 la realizaci\u00f3n del proyecto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-large-font-size\"><strong>&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size\"><strong>We built a Biogarden at the Santa Teresa High School<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Biogardens are artificial wetlands that help clean and treat wastewater, specifically gray water. They work through a filtering system using different sizes of stones as well as the natural filtration of plants that are planted on the surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of 2021, we participated in a contest launched by GWP Central America that funds initiatives that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 6 &#8220;Clean Water and Sanitation&#8221;. These initiatives should contribute to an Integrated Management of Water Resources (IWRM). In total, 14 proposals from the entire region were submitted and we were among the 2 winning initiatives!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our proposal comprised the construction of a biogarden for wastewater treatment at the Santa Teresa Rural School. Our goal was to create an open classroom for the entire community where we can show existing good practices to properly treat wastewater and prevent it from contaminating rivers and the ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To start the project, in December, we held a training session for teachers, students, and neighbors on wastewater treatment to make them part of the biogarden construction process. Also, we prepared the ground and placed the stones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In February, we will carry out the second phase of the project where we will plant the filtration plants and place signs with the support of students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project included the installation of a treated water storage tank that will allow its reuse for irrigation. Thanks to the support of GWP Central America we will also be able to analyze this reused water to check its quality according to the legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Soon we will share a practical guide with more details of the process for the construction of the biogarden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We thank the GWP Central America team, the high school Principal Juan Parajeles, and their Board of Directors for the interest and great teamwork that helped achieve the project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Las biojardineras son humedales artificiales que ayudan a limpiar y tratar aguas residuales, espec\u00edficamente las grises.
