Tambi\u00e9n, se expusieron los avances y retos actuales de Costa Rica en el \u00e1rea de alcantarillado y saneamiento; as\u00ed como el uso de las tecnolog\u00edas mas actuales para automatizar y mejorar, los sistemas de tratamiento de aguas residuales.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>&#8220;<em>Entre los datos m\u00e1s importantes, destaca que: solo el 25% de la poblaci\u00f3n de Costa Rica, cuenta con un sistema de tratamiento de aguas residuales. Esto deja en evidencia la necesidad urgente de buscar soluciones a esta problem\u00e1tica.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p><cite>Comenta Luis G\u00f3mez, Ingeniero Ambiental de Nicoya Pen\u00ednsula Waterkeeper<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Se mostraron diferentes tecnolog\u00edas de punta, para la automatizaci\u00f3n de sistemas de tratamiento, como por ejemplo, el sistema de succi\u00f3n por aire; que elimina el agua, para transportar la materia fecal a trav\u00e9s de las tuber\u00edas, disminuyendo el consumo de agua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Por otro lado, los humedales artificiales se muestran como una posible soluci\u00f3n integral en comunidades para aguas residuales ordinarias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Se expuso&nbsp; la posibilidad de utilizar la energ\u00eda generada en una planta de tratamiento, y potencialmente llegar a un punto en que las plantas de tratamiento sean autosuficientes. Un ejemplo de esta pr\u00e1ctica, es la planta de tratamiento Los Tajos; siendo la m\u00e1s grande en Centroam\u00e9rica, produce energ\u00eda para autoconsumo, disminuyendo costos de operaci\u00f3n. Entre los participantes del congreso se lleg\u00f3 a un consenso: existe la necesidad de articular las acciones a favor del saneamiento; ncluyendo a otras instituciones p\u00fablicas, que permitan gestionar todos los subproductos de manera circular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Para conocer un poco mas de que se trata TICOSAN pueden visitar:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/globalwaterstewardship.org\/ticosan\">https:\/\/globalwaterstewardship.org\/ticosan<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Para apoyar las iniciativas de Nicoya Pen\u00ednsula Waterkeeper:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nicoyawaterkeeper.org\/en\/get-involved\">https:\/\/www.nicoyawaterkeeper.org\/en\/get-involved<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This past March 22, we participated in TICOSAN, conference organized by the Global Water Stewardship, addressing a variety of important issues to consider regarding sanitation and wastewater. The progress and current challenges of Costa Rica, in the area of \u200b\u200bsewage and sanitation were discussed, as well as the use of cutting-edge technologies, to automate and improve wastewater treatment systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the most important data, it stands out that currently only 25% of the population of Costa Rica has a wastewater treatment system, evidencing the urgent need to advance in this issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Different technologies were shown for the automation of treatment systems, such as: the air suction system, which removes water, to transport fecal matter through the pipes, reducing water consumption. Furthermore, artificial wetlands were shown as a possible integral solution in communities for ordinary wastewater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The possibility of using the energy generated in a treatment plant and perhaps reaching a point where the treatment plants are self-sufficient was discussed. An example of this practice is Los Tajos treatment plant, being the largest in Central America. It produces energy for self-consumption which reduces operating costs.
