Los resultados de los \u00faltimos an\u00e1lisis que realizamos (entre ellos: Demanda Biol\u00f3gica de Ox\u00edgeno (DBO), Nitr\u00f3geno amoniacal (N-NH<sup>+4<\/sup>), Porcentaje de Saturaci\u00f3n de Ox\u00edgeno (PSO), Sustancias Activas al Azul de Metileno (SAAM), fosfatos, coliformes fecales, estreptococos fecales) <strong>nos indican la presencia de materia fecal y aguas jabonosas en los r\u00edos.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Waterkeeper contrat\u00f3 al laboratorio Bioanal\u00edtica para realizar un muestreo el 24 de mayo del 2022 en las quebradas Danta y Carmen que se realiz\u00f3 justo durante la \u00e9poca lluviosa y temporada baja de la zona. Los puntos de muestreo en ambas quebradas fueron ubicados justo al lado de la calle principal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A\u00fan durante la \u00e9poca lluviosa, cuando la contaminaci\u00f3n se encuentra m\u00e1s dilu\u00edda por la gran cantidad de agua, los resultados de la prueba de SAAM nos indican la presencia de sustancias provenientes de detergentes y jabones en el agua.<\/strong> Las quebradas Danta y Carmen presentaron valores de 2,6 mg\/L y 3,8 mg\/L respectivamente. Estos resultados clasifican el agua como <strong>altamente contaminada<\/strong> seg\u00fan el Reglamento para la Evaluaci\u00f3n y Clasificaci\u00f3n de la Calidad de Cuerpos de Agua Superficiales. Los resultados de los an\u00e1lisis fisicoqu\u00edmicos en quebrada Danta fueron: 38 mg\/L de DBO, 61,4% de PSO y 0,14 mg\/L de N-NH<sup>+4<\/sup>, mientras que en quebrada Carmen los resultados fueron: 52 mg\/L de DBO, 98,4% de PSO y 0,02 mg\/L de N-NH<sup>+4<\/sup>. El mismo Reglamento nos permiti\u00f3 clasificar la calidad fisicoqu\u00edmica del agua como <strong>moderadamente contaminada<\/strong>. Por otra parte, no se detectaron fosfatos en las quebradas.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AN\u00c1LISIS DE PLAYAS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En las playas se realizaron pruebas de coliformes fecales y estreptococos fecales, estos dos grupos de bacterias nos indican la presencia de materia fecal en el agua. En el a\u00f1o 2022 se han realizado dos muestreos, en febrero para las playas de Malpa\u00eds, Carmen, Santa Teresa, Hermosa y Manzanillo y en el mes de mayo en las playas Santa Teresa, Hermosa y Manzanillo.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En febrero durante la \u00e9poca seca y temporada alta, <strong>se encontr\u00f3 en\u00a0playa Santa Teresa en la bajada de Casa Zen, agua altamente contaminada con 471 NMP\/100 mL de estreptococos fecales.<\/strong> En Malpa\u00eds, se encontr\u00f3 en la entrada de Casa Chameleon febrero un punto con contaminaci\u00f3n incipiente, con 31 NMP\/100 mL de estreptococos fecales. Todos los otros puntos de muestreo durante febrero se encontraban sin contaminaci\u00f3n. Por otro lado, los resultados de mayo en \u00e9poca lluviosa nos indicaron que en la desembocadura del r\u00edo Manzanillo hab\u00eda un total 4900 NMP\/100 mL de coliformes fecales, clasificado como altamente contaminado. Los dem\u00e1s puntos de muestreo y playas resultaron sin contaminaci\u00f3n. Cabe recalcar que las playas de Malpa\u00eds y Carmen no han sido testeadas durante la \u00e9poca lluviosa todav\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tal como se ha evidenciado, seguimos obteniendo resultados de contaminaci\u00f3n alarmantes en la zona. Si queremos seguir disfrutando de la belleza natural de la zona debemos tomar ciertas acciones. <strong>Sabemos que los detergentes y jabones siguen siendo necesarios para el ser humano, pero podemos seleccionar productos y marcas que generen un impacto menor sobre el agua.<\/strong> Las aguas residuales de nuestros inodoros son nuestra responsabilidad, as\u00ed que estamos en la obligaci\u00f3n de verificar que en nuestro lugar de residencia exista un correcto tratamiento, y si no existe, buscar maneras de financiar un nuevo tratamiento. The results of the latest analyzes we carried out (Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Ammoniacal Nitrogen (N-NH+4), Oxygen Saturation Percentage (PSO) , Methylene Blue Active Substances (SAAM), phosphates, fecal coliforms, fecal streptococci) <strong>indicate the presence of fecal matter and soapy water.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Waterkeeper hired Bioanal\u00edtica lab to sample Danta and Carmen streams May 24, 2022, right during the rainy season and low season in the area. The sampling points in both streams were located right next to the main street.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Even during rainy season, when pollution is more diluted due to the large amount of rain water, the results SAAM test indicates the presence of substances from detergents and soaps in the water.<\/strong> Danta and Carmen creeks showed values \u200b\u200bof 2.6 mg\/L and 3.8 mg\/L respectively. These results classify the water as highly contaminated according to the By-laws for the Evaluation and Classification of the Quality of Surface Water Bodies. The physicochemical results in the Danta stream were: 38 mg\/L of BOD, 61.4% of PSO and 0.14 mg\/L of N-NH+4, while in the Carmen stream the results were: 52 mg\/L of BOD , 98.4% PSO and 0.02 mg\/L N-NH+4. The same By-laws allowed us to classify the physicochemical quality of the water as moderately polluted. On the other hand, no phosphates were detected in the streams.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>BEACHES ANALYSIS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tests for fecal coliforms and fecal streptococcus were carried out on the beaches. These two groups of bacteria indicate the presence of fecal matter in the water. So far in 2022, two samplings have been carried out, in February on the beaches of Malpa\u00eds, Carmen, Santa Teresa, Hermosa, and Manzanillo and in the month of May on the beaches of Santa Teresa, Hermosa and Manzanillo. In February, during the dry season and high season, highly contaminated water with 471 MPN\/100 mL of fecal streptococcus was found on Santa Teresa beach in the Casa Zen street. In Malpa\u00eds, a point with incipient contamination was found at the beach entrance near Casa Chamaleon in February, with 31 MPN\/100 mL of fecal streptococci. All other sampling points during February were found to be free of contamination. On the other hand, the results of May during the rainy season indicated that at the mouth of the Manzanillo River there was a total of 4,900 MPN\/100 mL of fecal coliforms, classified as highly contaminated. The other sampling points and beaches tested in May were free of contamination. It should be noted that the beaches of Malpa\u00eds and Carmen have not yet been tested during the rainy season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As evidenced, we continue to obtain alarming contamination results in the area. If we want to continue enjoying the natural beauty of the area, we must take certain actions. <strong>We know that detergents and soaps are still necessary for human beings, but we can select products and brands that generate less impact on water. <\/strong>The wastewater from our toilets is our responsibility, so we must verify that we are treating it correctly in our homes and if the system we have is not efficient, look for a way to get a new system.
