Dándole un buen destino a las llantas y sandalias // Granting a better destination to old tires and sandals

-English below-

Granting a better destination to old tires and sandals

On Friday, November 1st, we received tires and rubber sandals in Santa Teresa, Montezuma, and Cabuya. This was a great teamwork. Convened by the Municipality of Cóbano, we participated together with the ADI Montezuma, the ADI Cabuya Recycling Committee, and Voluntariado Ambiental Mal País.

Thanks to the efforts of all these organizations, we were able to collect 31 car and motorcycle tires and almost 100 kilos of rubber sandals. Each and every one of these materials are going to be melted and processed as raw material to be reused thanks to the non-profit foundation Fundellantas.

The final idea of these efforts is to prevent old tires or flip flops from ending up in rivers, vacant lots or open-pit combustions. Instead of discarding them without thinking about where they are going to end up, make sure to recycle them! Every object that we no longer use and don’t recycle, will continue existing somewhere else polluting the world in which you live.

We will continue organizing these campaigns throughout the year. We expect more and more people to join and that everyone finally understands that the cycle of a material doesn´t end when you dispose of it in the trash. Stay tuned for the next campaign dates and join us!
